Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Peace and Quiet ...
I was looking for noise canceling earmuffs to quiet the constant din of the television so I could read in the same room as my family. I feel like they've given me my sanity back! They are comfortable and really do the trick. At first they felt a bit tight on my ears but after a couple wearings they are great. I am able to hear enough so I am not totally isolated, but I am now able to read within six feet of the television and it doesn't bother me at all. The price is so much lower than earmuffs I've priced at retail stores and they are of high quality. I definitely recommend these.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * What Price Would You Pay For Peace? ...
My Deaf son looked most skeptical as I opened the box - and pulled out these Peltor ear muffs. He asked - Mom, do you want to be Deaf? I replied simply, yes in ASL! You see, over the years 'the hearing' as my son calls us have noticed that we are far more irritable than we were decades ago. Ultimately, my discovery as to the cause was the ever-present in-home and outdoor continuum of noise from humans, machinery, media chatter, telephone talk, and things that mysteriously go bump in the night-and-day. So, when I put the muffs on - it felt like I had actually achieved a lifetime dream from that old Broadway show - "stop the world - i want to get off!" Peace...pure peace, and priceless. Oh - they are comfortable as well. A great deal!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * very good ...
Purchased the noise cancelling earmuff for use with a professional grade back pack blower. They work well and are very confortable. I would recommend to anyone that uses noisy landscape equipment or power tools. They are very reasonably priced as well.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Good! ...
very good. it's not heavy at all, and comfortable.
so efficiently get rid or my roommate's fk noisy music.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Works very well for my purposes ...
The (passive) noise reduction works very well. [Noise Canceling usually means an electronic system, which this is NOT.] Wearing these, I can barely hear the lawn mower or circular saw; it is useful to be able to hear them just enough to know they are working correctly. With earbuds put on first, I can listen to my mp3 player/radio at normal volumes with full clarity.

They are a bit snug, as you would want to ensure good noise reduction; I have a fairly large head. I loosened them a bit by flexing the wires gently a few times. Too tight is better than too loose, because it's easier to loosen them.

The muffs are plastic. Wearing these in hot weather or doing sweaty work means some moisture will gather where the muff is against your scalp/skin, and some will find that uncomfortable if worn for a long time.

Note that they are rated at 29 db reduction. That's about the same as the foam inserts you can buy at most pharmacies, which are much cheaper and better for long-term wear. I bought the earmuffs to make it easy to take them off when not in use, and to be able to listen to my radio/mp3 player with earbuds.

These work VERY well for my purposes. I wear them as needed, which varies from a couple of minutes to just over an hour, and they are comfortable enough for that amount of wear.

San Francisco filmmaker Ernie Fosselius made the most successful short film of all time in the 1978 Hardware Wars, an inspired, mock-trailer for a nonexistent, cheapo rip-off of Star Wars. It worked like this: instead of Chewbacca, Fosselius offers the Cookie Monster. Instead of Darth Vader's breathy, slightly echoed voice emerging somehow behind that black-mask helmet, we get a villain whose every ranting utterance is so muffled even this film's Princess Leia equivalent beseeches him, "What? I don't understand you." And so on. Part of the joke is that George Lucas's revolutionary special effects are supplanted by common kitchen gizmos--mixers, toasters--that serve as spaceships and weapons sources. The updated special edition contains 20 computer-generated "special defects" that don't--the distributor boasts--at all match Fosselius's earlier version. Um... right on? --Tom Keogh

It's Christmas in the tech noir slum of the post-apocalyptic future, and scrap-metal sculptor Stacey Travis gets a present she'll never forget. Scavenger boyfriend Dylan McDermott returns from the wastelands with the insectoid robot head of a killing machine. In no time it whirs to life and builds itself a gizmo-laden body out of handy appliances to continue its single-minded destruction of the human race, one warm body at a time. Director Richard Stanley, something of a scavenger himself, plunders everything from The Terminator, Blade Runner, and The Road Warriorto Short Circuit (the spidery construct resembles a demonic Number 5) for his violent flesh-vs.-metal survival thriller. Shot in sun-blasted orange and sweltering red, it's a triumph of style, set design, and grunge aesthetics over story, driven by a pounding techno score by Simon Boswell and punctuated by splattering gore. --Sean Axmaker
